Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo proud to reach 400 goals

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is proud to have reached 400 goals.
Ronaldo hit the mark with his hat-trick in the Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid.
He said, "It's something very special. It's a lot of goals, I didn't expect it. It is the fruit of the work of the whole team, my work, all the people who work in the club and the fans, who always support us. It's an extra motivation to always play for this shirt.
"I feel very happy and I want to try to give my best in the years that I have on my contract, to score goals as always and to help Real Madrid win titles."

His rival Lionel Messi also completed 500 Barcelona goals against Real Madrid in El Clasico

As reported by the club’s website, Ronaldo has scored 281 times in La Liga, 88 in the Champions League, 22 in the Copa del Rey, four times in the Club World Cup, three in the Spanish Super Cup and two in the UEFA Super Cup.

WHAT’S THE DISPUTE?

Nestled in among Ronaldo’s ‘400 goals’ is a controversial strike in February 2011, where Ronaldo famously claimed a goal against Real Sociedad which hit team-mate Pepe and went in.
The referee awarded the goal to the defender but Marca, which is in charge of awarding the Pichichi award for Spain’s top scorer, didn’t want Ronaldo to lose ground on Lionel Messi and gave it to their favourite.
"Regardless of what the official match report says, the goal belongs to Cristiano," said Pepe. "The ball hit me and then went in, but the credit should go to the player who took the free-kick. When we are talking about that goal, I absolutely do not have a problem in awarding it to him. The ball went in and he deserves the credit for it."
